That
morning, Jesus of Nazareth
was brought before the
Governor
and tried for his life.
It was nothing to hang
onto,
not worth it when push
came to shove,
and so he let the world
run him over
and do its best
or its worst.
Convicted, he was led
away,
the Rock upon whom the
world stumbled,
the Rock that would crush
the oppressor.
So he gave himself to
them.
Do your best.
Do your worst.
They did.
And we here
are called to ponder
our part in this story …
… this tragic comedy
of human stupidity
fear
ignorance
and cruelty.
